We understand your problem
Drug Detox. Making the decision to do something about your drug problem is never an easy one. Picking up the telephone to talk to one of our friendly admissions staff will be one of the best decisions you will ever make. We understand what you are going through and the assessment process is relatively easy to go through. The process is designed to give you as much information as possible about the drug detox clinic as well as giving Pierpoint House as much information as possible about yourself so that we can check if we can help you to deal with your drug problem.
About our detox
When you are admitted to the unit for your detox, you will be greeted by one of our Support Workers and will then be medically admitted by one of our highly trained Nurses. Later in the day you will be seen by one of our Specialist General Practitioners so you can rest assured that your detox will be well managed by our specialist team.
The detox unit is staffed 24 hours per day by Specialist Nurses and Support Staff and we also have highly trained Therapists who will help you to understand more about your drug problems and why you use drugs. The Nurses will support you through your drug detox and give you a range of medications to help you through and ease any withdrawal symptoms you may experience.
What medication will be used? – Drug detox
We will try to keep things simple for you. If you have been using Methadone before you come into the drug detox clinic, we will use Methadone to detox you with – by reducing the dose you have over a period of time. If you have been using Buprenorphine before you came into the drug detox clinic, we will use Buprenorphine to detox you with – by reducing the doses you have over a period of time. So if you have been using Heroin or other opiates before you came into the drug detox clinic, we will use a medication called Lofexidine to detox you with, which again, will be reduced over a period of time.
If you have been using Benzodiazepines, we will detox you using reducing doses of Benzodiazepines over a period of time. We will also give you other medications to help ease any feelings of pain or anxiety and will try to make your drug detox as comfortable as possible without over-sedating you. We have been helping people with drug problems to undergo drug detox programs for many years and many people say how effective it is, pain-free and relatively easy to do.
