WHAT WE PROVIDE

The Female Focus Primary Treatment programme specialises in meeting the needs of Women, aged 18-64 years, who are addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs.

We provide 24-hour staff support, including trained Addiction Counsellors and Project Workers in a safe, structured and non-judgmental environment.

All our treatment programmes work from an abstinence-based philosophy so that each person may reach a clearer understanding of their Substance Abuse, Dependency or Addiction.

We believe that people who have a life-threatening relationship with Drugs and/or Alcohol need a period of time totally substance-free in order to make a clear assessment of their lifestyle.

A comprehensive Modular Therapeutic Programme has been developed to provide a variety of options in order to suit a person's individual needs.

PRIMARY TREATMENT

Female Focus provides a 12-week highly structured therapeutic programme for Women.  Aftercare and Family support is also provided.

The Modified 12-Step Module helps the "out-of-control" user to gain a greater awareness of the full cycle of chemical dependency.  Clients are presented with an understanding of the first 5-Steps, with specific focus on their unmanageability with regard to alcohol and/or other drug abuse.

The Beyond Addiction Module supports each individual in developing an increased awareness of how their dependency issues filter through into all aspects of their lives.  Clients are encouraged to reach beyond their previously self-designated boundaries into a future which has fulfilment, emotional freedom and most of all choice.

The Communication Skills Module is designed to further enhance the re-building of relationships (where appropriate) with family members and significant others, while also learning to use those skills to build appropriate, functional and supportive relationships with fellow peers.

Education Groups, Lectures, Written Assignments, Therapy Groups, Peer Support Groups and Individual Counselling are an integral part of the Treatment Programme.

RELAPSE POLICY

All Cients are required to be abstinent during the treatment programme.  Should an individual use any mood-altering substance, they will be asked to leave the programme.

We believe every individual to be uniquely valuable.  However, our foremost responsibility is the protection of the 'therapeutic community' of the House and the maintenance of a dry and clean environment, to provide consistent support and safety for those who are attempting to change their lives.

CONFIDENTIALITY

We recognise the importance of confidentiality for all Clients.  Any information given will be treated with respect and only used for the purpose for which it was disclosed.

We work closely with all referring agencies and encourage regular reviews and provide regular written progress reports.

Female Focus works closely with family members and significant others. Family Conferences are suggested to assist the individual in rebuilding bridges and repairing important relationships.  NB.  This is, however, only ever done with the Client's express consent.

IS THIS WHAT I NEED?

It is probable that you would benefit from primary treatment at Female Focus if:-
You realise that your alcohol and other drug use is out of control and that your life has become unmanageable.

You need to be in a safe, supportive atmosphere in a Residential Centre that is very committed to maintaining a drug and alcohol-free environment while you receive treatment.

You have had enough of being on the merry-go-round of dependency or addiction and are committed to changing your life, but you want to understand how to do this.

You want to be with other people who clearly understand what you are going through and identify with difficulties you are experiencing.

You want appropriate support for your specific Physical, Mental and Emotional Health needs.

You want to learn how to develop a more meaningful and productive lifestyle and have hope for the future.

You may like support in re-building relationships with your family, while they are also learning to understand the recovery process.

You want a Rehabilitation programme that supports people from assessment and detoxification, through treatment and into independent living.
